veratridine

A yellowish-white, amorphous powdered alkaloid, C₃₆H₅₁NO₁₁, obtained from sabadilla seeds and from the rhizomes of some hellebores of the genus Veratrum.

An alkaloid, isomeric with veratrine and occurring along with it in the so-called veratrine of ordinary medical use, differing however from it in being amorphous instead of crystallizable and being much more soluble in water.
