syringomyelia

A chronic disease of the spinal cord characterized by the presence of fluid-filled cavities and leading to spasticity and sensory disturbances.

The existence of an abnormal cavity or cavities in the substance of the spinal cord, whether from abnormal persistence, from variation or distention of the embryonic space, or from the breaking down of gliomatous or other morbid tissue.

A disorder in which a cyst or cavity forms within the spinal cord, possibly leading to stiffness or paralysis.
