A colorless flammable liquid acetal, C₃H₈O₂, used as a solvent and in the manufacture of perfumes, adhesives, and protective coatings.

Methylene dimethyl ether, CH₂(OCH₃)₂, a liquid product of the oxidation of methylic alcohol. It has a pleasant odor, and by oxidation passes into formic acid.

A light, volatile liquid, H2C(OCH3)2, regarded as a complex ether, and having a pleasant ethereal odor. It is obtained by the partial oxidation of methyl alcohol. Called also formal.
